Return of This Is My Body

A couple of years ago my partner and collaborator, Jess DeVries and I were invited to craft a workshop offering to a progressive church community. It gave us the chance to dive into some real foundational stuff that we share, having both grown up in conservative Christian churches. After the first round, we decided to expand it and offer it again. This year fills out a trinity as we prepare to offer what this workshop has become. If you are also someone whose relationship to gender, sex, pleasure and embodiment were impacted by the “values” of purity culture, abstinence based education, love is between married men and women and other related ideas- this opportunity is for you.

This workshop series comes from a desire to share what we know about embodiment and pleasure while holding space for the deep inquiry it takes to define sexual values that are in alignment with the truth within yourself and your deeply personal relationship to spirit and community.  We crafted this offering into what felt like a familiar framework; a liturgical structure that borrows from traditions that our bodies know and integrates somatics and embodiment tools, intersectional analysis, and our own theologies of pleasure. 

In This is My Body, we hold the door open for others to follow us into the liberation we have found through nervous system care, embodied awareness, practicing personal agency, and pleasure education. These skills were learned and cultivated as professional sex & embodiment coaches; and we share them in the way that is flexible to each participant’s body, sexuality, and relationship to the divine.
